Mobile CRO: fixing the mobile drop-off

UK Shopify stores lose 60%+ of mobile sessions between PDP and cart. Here's the mobile-CRO checklist that closes the gap: LCP, sticky ATC, thumb zones and forms.

Why mobile converts lower

Slower LCP, harder form completion, interrupted sessions. Desktop UK Shopify conversion is typically 2.5-4x mobile. Closing that gap is where mobile CRO lives.

Speed fixes

  • Preload hero image with rel="preload".
  • Defer non-critical JS (chat, reviews widget below-the-fold).
  • WebP for all product imagery (Shopify serves natively).
  • Audit third-party apps - kill anything adding >200ms to LCP.

Target: mobile LCP under 2.0s. Typical result: +10-18% mobile conversion.

Mobile UX fixes

  • Sticky ATC bar (highest ROI mobile fix).
  • Thumb-zone CTAs - primary buttons in the bottom third.
  • Larger tap targets (44x44px minimum).
  • Collapsed navigation, sticky mini-header.
  • Address autocomplete for UK postcodes.

Forms on mobile

  • Correct inputmode attributes for numeric fields.
  • UK postcode auto-uppercases + auto-formats.
  • Single-column form layout.
  • Show password toggle.

How to measure

Segment GA4 by device. Track mobile-only PDP-to-ATC and ATC-to-checkout rates. Any mobile fix should move at least one of those by 5% relative to hold consideration.
